MEET the boys of HUCKNALL HARRIER UNDER-10S, who have shown fantastic improvement to enjoy a tremendous season in the Young Elizabethan League.
Only a year after finishing next to bottom, Harrier looked a totally different side last term under new manager Gary Cartledge.
Not only did they win the Saturday Fourth Division title, they also went within a whisker of landing the league cup too, losing 4-3 after extra-time in the final against Third Division champions West Bridgford Knights.
Harrier also got to the semi-finals of the President’s Cup, losing only on penalties. And in the manager’s son, Liam Cartledge, they boasted the division’s top marksman with 39 goals.
In the league, Harrier’s record in their 16 games was won 12, drawn two, lost two. Their biggest win was 14-1 against Bestwood Park Rangers.
They are now looking forward to the step-up to 11-a-side football next season and are on the lookout for more players to bolster their squad. Anyone interested should ring Gary on 07970 049546.
