Coach and judokas put in BELT-ing performance

JUDO expert Steve Wilkins — head coach of Hucknall’s Edgewood Judo Club — is celebrating after achieving his second dan (black belt).

Wilkins landed the promotion during a British Judo Association (BJA) technical dan-grade course at Ryecroft Judo Club in Beeston.

Meanwhile, 28 of the club’s judokas achieved new promotions at a BJA grading session held at Skegby Royal British Legion Judo Club.

The successful judokas were:

James Heathcote 9th mon (orange belt and three tags), Daniel Khiari and Harry Shotton 8th mon (orange belt and two tags), Jai Raison 7th mon (orange belt and one tag), Ryan Bell, Charlotte Burman, Curtis Flint and Arron Sloat 6th mon (yellow belt and three tags), Joseph Allsop, Ethan Gascoigne and Harry Hibbert 5th mon (yellow belt and two tags), Joseph Allitt, Erin Brough, Nathan Henshaw and Katie Williams 4th mon (yellow belt and one tag), Joseph Booth, Max Bryan, Benjamin Dodds, Joseph Dodds, Holly Farbrother, Aaron Rogers and Callum Smoczyk 3rd mon (red belt and three tags), Brooke Sloat, Kayleigh Sloats, Lucy Sloat and Sophie Williams 2nd mon (red belt and two tags), Jack Nash and William Smith 1st mon (red belt and one tag).
