MYSTERY surrounds a decision by Notts CCC to suspend Bulwell-based fast bowler Luke Fletcher (pictured), who has just re-joined Papplewick and Linby.
Fletcher (22) has made a bright start to his fourth season at Trent Bridge, taking 16 wickets in five County Championship matches for the defending champions.
But after a hearing at Trent Bridge last Friday, he was banned from all cricket for two weeks for what the club describe as a breach of discipline.
Notts say they will make no further comment and add that the details of the 6’6” giant’s misbehaviour will remain confidential.
Fletcher will miss one County Championship fixture, plus a Clydesdale Bank 40 League match and the first three games of Notts’s Friends Life Twenty20 campaign.
The ban also means he cannot play for Papplewick in the Notts Premier League. A product of the club’s youth ranks, he is one of two professionals at Papplewick Hall but has to yet to play this term because of his involvement with Notts.
