BACK on home turf at the Rolls-Royce Leisure Club in Hucknall, the Nottinghamshire county darts team roared to a fine win over Berkshire in their third match of the season.
Notts triumphed 22-14 in the two-day fixture to leap into second place in the British Inter-Counties Championship, Second Division table, level on points with leaders Hertfordshire.
Cracking the weekend off were the ladies’ B team, who stormed to a belting 4-2 victory. They were inspired by player-of-the-match Eleanor Dunn, who won 3-1 with a 16.02 average.
The men’s B team were also in top form, easing home 8-4 thanks to some superb darts from Tom Allies, who was player-of-the-match with a 27.33 average. Debutant Lyndon Hextall also bagged a 3-2 success, despite first-time nerves.
The ladies’ A team got the Sunday off to a smashing start, winning 4-2, with captain Helen Harvey (20.32 average) taking the player-of-the-match award.
And a fabulous weekend was topped by the men’s A team, who held a strong Berkshire line-up to a 6-6 draw. Player-of-the-match was Pete McConville with an average of 32.67.
Notts’s next match is away to Staffordshire over the weekend of December 3 and 4. Their next home fixture at Rolls is against Northamptonshire on January 28 and 29.
