PAULINE Elkington popped up with the highest finish of the season so far as Legion Poppies continued their domination of the HUCKNALL LADIES DARTS LEAGUE.
Elkington finished on 158 in Poppies’ victory over Red Lion to smash the previous best of 104, achieved by Sherrel Binch.
The leaders are now six points clear at the top of the table after 11 straight wins. They are also through to the semi-finals of the league’s Charity Cup after a 4-1 triumph against George Street. Poppies are joined in the last four by inter-club rivals Royal British Legion, who beat Harrier 4-1, and Foreign Legion, who knocked out Empire, also 4-1.
MEANWHILE the Nottinghamshire county team stayed top of the British Inter-Counties Championship, Division Two table after a nailbiting clash with Suffolk at their Hucknall base.
With one leg to play, Notts led just 18-17 at the Rolls-Royce Leisure Club. But despite missing crucial doubles, captain Jay Foreman eased the tension to win it and seal an 8-4 victory for the men’s A team.
Earlier the men’s B team had lost 8-4, while the ladies’ A side won 4-2 and the ladies’ B team drew 3-3. Notts have two fixtures to play, including against second-placed Lincolnshire over the weekend of March 31 and April 1.
