Derby cruise keeps bowlers on a roll

ANOTHER clean sweep of four victories in a week included a success over derby rivals Hucknall Titchfield Park for Rolls-Royce Leisure in Division Two of the Notts EBA Mixed 4x3 League.

The Rollers won 6-1 (87 shots to 46) as Lily Bennington, John Etches and Bert Wright recorded a 32-7 success inspired by a six on the first end. Pauline Harvey, Roy Walker and Alan Parker came through 24-13 and Maureen Gunn, Geoff Gunn and Stuart Newton were always in control and won 20-9.

The only losing rink was that of Ann Taylor, Mark Foulds and Alan Harvey (17-11).

DESPITE going into the Ashfield 4x2 League, Division Three clash with Ashfield with seven players against eight, Rolls easily won 12-2 (102-60).

Successful duos were John Etches and Adam Wright (34-14), Terry Simpson and Grenville Foulds (33-10) and Ron Clurow and Bert Wright (26-10). Alan Harvey took on Ashfield’s remaining pair and put up a good fight, eventually losing 26-9.

DAYBROOK were next in the firing line as they were beaten 5.5-0.5 (63-38) by Rolls in Division One of the Notts EBA Open 3x4 League.

The winners for the locals were Janet Adams, John Etches, Bert Wright and Dave Adams (26-13) and Roy Walker, John Walker, Mark Foulds and Dave Breedon (20-8).

Geoff Gunn, Ron Clurow, Stuart Newton and Alan Parker fought back from an early deficit to draw 17-17.

ROLLS maintained their 100% record (from nine matches) in Division One of the Saturday Federation 3x3 League with a 6-0 whitewash (62-44) of rivals West Bridgford.

Rose Hobbs, Stuart Newton and Alan Parker came through 20-12, Janet Adams, Mark Foulds and Dave Adams won 20-16 and the result was sealed with a 22-16 victory for Ann Taylor, John Walker and Roy Walker.
