DOMINOES: Title odds stacked in favour of Town

NARROW 3-2 victories kept the title hopes alive of the three main protagonists in the race for the HUCKNALL WINTER DOMINOES LEAGUE championship.

But with only six matches to play, the odds remain stacked in favour of Talk Of The Town, whose eclipse of bottom-of-the-table Empire Strikes Back maintained their four-point lead.

Second-placed Station Hotel (Newstead) beat Station Hotel (Hucknall) B, while third-placed Crafty Conny edged out Bestwood Village Social Club.

Remarkably the top three boast almost-identical legs for-and-against records. All have won 47, while Town and Station have conceded 33 and Crafty Conny 32.

Elsewhere, the glory chances of Shamrock faded with a surprise 3-2 defeat at home to struggling Little John.

The Ravenshead side duly moved out of the bottom two, dumping Royal British Legion, who nosedived to a 5-0 whitewash reverse away to Constitutional Club A.

The week’s remaining fixture resulted in a 3-2 success for George Street B at home to Bentinck Conservative Club.
