DOMINOES: Town Talking about title after win relief

NEW life has been breathed into the title credentials of Talk Of The Town in the HUCKNALL WINTER DOMINOES LEAGUE after the latest set of results.

The leaders had looked in peril after back-to-back defeats, including a 5-0 demolition at the hands of struggling Royal British Legion.

But after seeing their lead cut from six points to just two, they are now staring at a four-point cushion at the summit after a narrow 3-2 victory at home to Bentinck Club.

What’s more, their conquerors the previous week, Legion, did Town a big favour by overcoming main challengers Station Hotel (Newstead) 3-2.

The result left Station Hotel (Hucknall) B with the opportunity to leapfrog their namesakes into second spot on leg difference -- a chance they duly grabbed with a 3-2 win away at Shamrock.

A further two points back from the Station outfits, three teams are deadlocked on 16 points — Crafty Conny, Bestwood Village Social Club and the aforementioned Shamrock.

In the latest round, Conny enjoyed a narrow 3-2 success at home to bottom-of-the-table Empire Strikes Back, while Bestwood outclassed lowly Little John.

In the only other match of the week, George Street Working Men’s Club B outshone Conny Club A to the tune of 4-1.
