Double delight for Papplewick U11s

Papplewick and Linby U11s have completed a memorable League and Cup double in the Mansfield and District Youth Cricket League.

They won the Cup in July, beating Cuckney in the final, and were confirmed champions of the league this week after winning all of the games they played.

The double has not been attained for a long time at U11s level by any club and is even more remarkable as only three of the squad are actually U11s, the rest being U10s and U9s.

This capped an excellent season for the Junior section of the club as the U13s finished third in their league and lost very narrowly to Farnsfield in the League Cup final while also being agonisingly knocked out of the County Cup by Bawtry in the semi final when tying but by virtue that they had lost more wickets.

The cup winning team pictured comprises: back row left to right, Mason Lowbridge, Charlie Varcoe, Scott Megson, Stephen Sargent, Maddox Vincent. Front: Andrew Sargent, Sam Watson (captain), and Charlie Collinson.
