HUCKNALL Town AFC suffered a disappointing Bank Holiday weekend with two defeats in the South Division of the Central Midlands League
Last Saturday, they fell to a 3-0 reverse at Sutton Town, whose direct style of football proved troublesome for AFC.
The first goal came when a long and high ball was misjudged by keeper James Beddingham and centre-back Josh Henry, who let the ball bounce and a Sutton forward was able to prod home.
The second game after the break in rather fortuitous style when Sutton’s right-back mis-kicked another long ball and it deceived everybody and sailed into the net.
Jamie Brown saw shot crash back off the crossbar for Hucknall but the game was over when Macauley Barber lost control and the Sutton striker placed his shot past Beddingham for 3-0.

ON BANK Holiday Monday, the game at home to Newark saw AFC make several changes and opted for youth with four of the starting 11 aged 16 and three aged 17.
Two gifts put Newark 2-0 up inside ten minutes, the first from an unmarked player after a corner and the other after a mistake from the goalkeeper.
Kamar Davis was making all sorts of problems for Newark’s defence on his debut and he scored to make it 2-1 at the interval.
Town played neat football in the second-half but Newark killed the game off late on as a cross looped into the net to rubberstamp a 3-1 win.
