FOUR wins from five matches ensured Hucknall-based ROLLS-ROYCE LEISURE slept comfortably in their beds at the end of another busy week of bowls.

One of the highlights of the week was an arresting performance that yielded a 6-0 whitewash (85 shots to 33) of Notts Constabulary in Division One of the Notts Saturday 3X3 Federation.

Rolls had their opponents in handcuffs on all three rinks, most notably that of Maureen Gunn, John Etches and Geoff Gunn who scored on 17 of the 21 ends to win 29-9. Ann Taylor, Graham Fowler and Mark Foulds won on 15 of the 21 ends to saunter home 31-12, while Lily Bennington, Stuart Newton and Alan Parker triumphed 25-12.

n ROLLS also raced to a 6-0 success (66 shots to 45) against Brookside in Division One of the Notts EBA 3X4 Open League.

John Walker, Bert Wright, Roy Walker and Dave Breedon lost on only six of the 18 ends to sail home 24-10, while Alan Harvey, John Etches, Stuart Newton and Alan Parker surged into a 20-4 lead after only 11 ends before winning 23-18. The other rink was won by Geoff Gunn, Ron Clurow, Mark Foulds and Dave Adams, who hit back from 11-2 down to triumph 19-17.

n A CLOSE match against Gotham in Division One of the Notts Midweek 3X3 Federation resulted in a 5-1 victory (50 shots to 47) for The Rollers.

John Etches, Alan Harvey and Adam Wright won 19-16, despite dropping nine shots in two ends, while Janet Adams, Ben Clurow and Dave Adams edged home by one shot, 18-17, after scoring ten shots in the last four ends.

It was similarly tight on the other rink as Pauline Harvey, Greg Umney and Stuart Newton fell by a single shot, 14-13.

n ROLLS were in sizzling form when easing to a 6-1 victory (79 shots to 41) against Sherwood in the First Division of the Notts Midweek Mixed 4X3 Federation.

Ann Taylor, Ron Clurow and Alan Parker won 21-14, Janet Adams, John Etches and Dave Adams 25-7 and Lily Bennington, Stuart Newton and Mark Foulds 22-7.

The only losing rink was that of Maureen Gunn, Adam Wright and Geoff Gunn, who threw away a 9-1 lead to go down 13-11.

n THE SOLE blemish on the week for the Hucknall club was a 6-1 defeat (61 shots to 49) against Nottingham Western in Division Two of the Notts EBA Mixed League.

Ann Taylor, Terry Simpson and Mark Foulds were Rolls’s only winners (17-6), although it must be said that Roy Walker and Alan Parker fought valiantly, considering they were a player short. They went down by only three shots, 18-15.

Maureen Gunn, John Etches and Geoff Gunn fell 17-13, despite rallying from 13-2 behind, while Lily Bennington, Ron Clurow and Alan Harvey scored on only three ends to crash 20-4.
