FORMER champions Spot-On Low C are showing they are determined to regain the HUCKNALL EPA LEAGUE pool title after making an unbeaten start to the new season.

In their latest outing, they hammered Bedstead 7-1 with wins on singles for Mike Vernon, Ryan Norris, Dean Britton, Simon Thompson and Daniel Butler, and doubles victories for Colin Draycott and Scott Oxford and Geoff Taylor and Lee Carrington.

Bestwood Village Social Club made it two wins from two with a 7-1 cakewalk of their own over Little John.

In Yew Tree’s clash with Liberal Club there was a remarkable turnaround. Tree, playing away, took the first two frames.

But they were blown away as Liberal reeled off six on the trot to secure a 6-2 success with Sally Clark winning on singles and pairs to register a first win of the season.

Green Dragon grabbed their first point of the season with a last-frame win to earn a 4-4 draw with high-flying Royal British Legion B.

Elsewhere, The Dragon were far too strong for Hucknall Chequers in a 7-1 blitz, while Royal British Legion A ran out 6-2 winners over Station Hotel (Hucknall) B.

THE EARLY-season pacesetters at the top of the individual rankings’ table are Bestwood Village Social Club pair Alan Allsopp and Michael Bull, Shane Wood (The Dragon) and Dean Britton (Spot On) with 21 points apiece and three wins from three games.

A league meeting is set to take place on Sunday at the Station Hotel, Hucknall, at 11 am.
