Falcons swimmers showing good progress

With 30 personal best times achieved on the night, Hucknall Falcons’ junior swimmers underlined their summer of progress in the final round of the Derby/Notts Gala League at Lammas Leisure Centre last weekend.

The club finished fifth out of six overall, but head coach Ian Melvin said: “That was a really good night for the final performance of our development swimmers.

“A grand total of 30 PBs on the evening shows some really good progress being made by our junior swimmers.

“Thank you to all the development teachers and coaches for your efforts in helping to transform our younger swimmers into stars of the future. Please keep the passion going.”

Dronfield were winners on the night with 240 points, followed by Mansfield A (200), Rykneld (168), Southwell (164) and Falcon (156), with Radford failing to score in sixth.

Falcon personal bests went to - James Sargent (backstroke) and Kyle Townsend (freestyle) as part of the Boys 12 Years and Under 4 x 25m medley relay; Tara Connor (backstroke) and Rebecca Fitch (freestyle) as part of the Girls 12 Years and Under 4 x 25m medley relay; Finley Ellis, Boys 10 Years 50m freestyle, and Boys 10 Years 50m breaststroke; Charlie Stenson as part of the Boys 11 Years 4 x 25m freestyle relay; Sophie Stevenson, Girls 12 Years 50 butterfly; Dylan Walker, Boys 9 Years 25m breaststroke; Tilly-Mae Oldnall, Girls 9 Years 25m breaststroke, and Girls 9 Years 25m butterfly; Charlie Stenson (breaststroke) and Matthew Burke (butterfly) as part of the Boys 10 Years 4 x 25m medley relay; Amber Wardle (butterfly) as part of the Girls 10 Years 4 x 25m medley relay; Rebecca Fitch Girls 12 Years 50m backstroke; Harry Hands as part of the Boys 9 Years 4 x 25m freestyle relay; Charlie Stenson (butterfly) as part of the Boys 11 Years 4 x 25m medley relay; Katrine Wilson (breaststroke) as part of the Girls 11 Years 4 25m medley relay; Harry Hands Boys 9 Years 25m butterfly, Boys 9 Years 25m backstroke; James Sargent as part of the Boys 12 Years 4 x 25m freestyle relay; Yana Gandhi Girls 9 Years and Under 25m backstroke; Finley Ellis and Matthew Burke as part of the Boys 10 Years 4 x 25m freestyle relay; James Sargent Boys 12 Years 50m freestyle; Amber Wardle (backstroke), Tilly-Mae Oldnall (breaststroke) and Harry Hands (freestyle) as part of the Boys 9 Years 4 x 25m mixed medley relay; and Yhana Gandhi and Finley Ellis as part of the mixed cannon 4 x 25m relay.

First places - Holly Bramwell-Ward, Girls 10 Years 50m freestyle; Grace Allsop, Girls 12 Years 50m breaststroke; Evie Allsop, Girls 10 Years 50m breaststroke; Yana Gandhi, Girls 9 Years 25m backstroke; and Benjamin Davies, Boys 11 Years 50m breaststroke (Junior Boys captain).

Second places - Dylan Walker, Boys 9 Years 25m freestyle; Finley Ellis, Boys 10 Years 50m freestyle, and Boys 10 Years 50m breaststroke; Tara Connor, Rebecca Finch, Sophie Stevenson and Grace Allsop as part of the Girls 12 Years 4 x 25m freestyle relay; Finley Ellis, Jacob Webster, Matthew Burke and Charlie Stenson as part of the Boys 10 Years 4 x 25m relay; and Dylan Walker, Yana Gandhi, Finley Ellis, Evie Allsop, Benjamin Davies, Katrine Wilson, Thomas Palin and Grace Allsop as part of the mixed cannon 8 x 25m freestyle.
