Four players fired hat-tricks as HUCKNALL LADIES continued their sparkling form in the British Water Polo League.
Cara Dunsbee, who netted four in all, Laura Woodfield, Helen Reader and Rachael Endy were the trebleshooters as Hucknall thrashed bottom-of-the-table Iceni, of Suffolk, 18-2 on the second weekend of fixtures, played at Walsall.
Stacey Roe (2), Jemma Senczyszyn (2) and Vicky Taylor were also on target in a dominant performance backed up by another outstanding display from goalkeeper Ripley Fidler.
The victory, which underlined the hard work the team have put into their training sessions, left Hucknall in third place in the Division Three table, just behind Birmingham and Southampton.
However, the previous day, they suffered their first defeat of the campaign when pipped 7-5 in a close game against Southampton.
Hucknall fought tooth and nail and matched their opponents in two of the four quarters. But despite having far more shots than their opponents, they were unluckily touched off. Dunsbee (2), Woodfield, Reader and Endy were their goalscorers.
The third and final weekend of fixtures takes place at Liverpool on 19th and 20th October when the locals play three matches -- against Birmingham, Manchester Barracudas and Leeds Hammerheads.
