Officials at HUCKNALL AND LINBY DOLPHINS were delighted by the performance of the club’s swimmers in the Second Round gala of the J.C.Dobb Spring League.
Held at Bramcote Pool, the gala brought together several clubs from the Nottinghamshire area. But Dolphins celebrated three victories -- from Jack Burbanks in the 14-and-under boys’ 50m backstroke, Lynden Johnson in the ten-and-under boys’ 25m freestyle and the ten-year-old boys’ medley relay team of Johnson, Gabe Moth and eight-year-olds Isaac Bennison and Francis Dermody.
The Hucknall club also registered four second places, including from 12-year-old Mark Turner in the 50m backstroke race of his age group.
Relay runners-up spots were secured by the ten-year-old boys’ freestyle team of Johnson, Moth, Bennison and Dermody, the newly-formed eight-year-old mixed medley team of Freya Blair, Hannah Bennison, Joseph Lilley and Dermody, and the 12-year-old girls’ freestyle team of Bella Sheridan, Lauren Daft, Rebecca Fitch and Ria Dennis.
A string of personal-best (PB) times were also clocked by Dolphins swimmers, most notably by Peter Frettingham, who cut two seconds from his 50m backstroke time, Max Jordan, who shaved two seconds from his previous 50m freestyle best, and Rebecca Fitch, who beat her previous 50m freestyle best by a second. Other PBs were achieved by Turner, Hannah Brown, Jack Burbanks, Lauren Daft, Megan Flint, Joel Goddon, Jordan Fretwell, Libby Brandham, Jess Waters, Hannah Fairy and Dan Simpson.
Dolphins are based at Hucknall Leisure Centre and offer a full range of tuition and coaching -- from beginners to competitive swimmers.
Says a spokesman: “We are registered with the ASA, and aim to be a friendly club that teaches and develops swimmers to achieve the best of their ability.”
