History repeats for Kev

James Maude Angling Club master tactician Kev Brown stayed on course for the club title as he repeated his win from the same peg as he won from on his last visit to Portland Waters Canal.

On a formidable lake with winning weights possible from most pegs, the fish in this lake are taking on some size.

Last visit saw Kev draw peg 27 and take the spoils with 127lb 7oz – so once he pulled out 27 again, it was obvious the league leader would take some beating.

Kev was soon into fish, but he had the added pressure of the new 50lb limit net rule at Portland so could he had to get his split right between nets.

This proved to be no problem, weighing in with 117lb 10oz and three nets, all taken on pellet and paste across shallow and down the edge.

Back into contention for a top place in the league is Dave Sewell, who drew peg 12 and fished a cracking match, also placing fish into his third net to take 108lb 13oz to the scales, taking most of his quarry down the edge.

Current league champion Kyle Wood was to be the third man to do the ton.

Fishing from fancied peg 19 over the far bank shallow and down the edge, he took 101lb.

With some very good back up weights, which on their day would have won most matches, there was a total combined weight for the day of 1,283lb 11oz.
