Knighton in shining armour puts rivals to sword

A MEMORABLE day for Steve Knighton saw him record a haul more than double that of his closest rival during HUCKNALL TOWN ANGLING CLUB’s latest Sunday match on Clover Lake at Rycroft Fishery, Derbyshire.

Knighton netted a total weighing 81lb 7oz, which left him head and shoulders ahead of second-placed Rob Lewis (35-7).

Other weights recorded were: Kev Blewitt 33-11, Barry Blewitt 28-10, Dave Wright 27-10, Alan Lucas 25-10, Barrie Robinson 24-14, Derel Alcock 18-2, Craig Akin 15-11, Rich Charlton 12-11, Colin Robinson 12-0, Jimmy Craig 8-8, Mick Stanley 1-4.

This Sunday’s match is on the Long Island Lake at Portland Waters near Newark.

THE MARGIN of victory was much narrower in HUCKNALL ANGLERS’ match last Sunday, where Dennis Hall took the plaudits by just three ounces.

Hall, from peg ten, recorded a bag weighing 15lb 13oz with Trevor Tideswell (15-10) beaten into second place at peg 14.

Other weights recorded were: Rob Daws 14-13, Ray Pickin 12-10, Brian Cross 12-10, Dave Clarke 9-14, Tom Bakewell 8-5, Brad Livock 8-2, Russ Tideswell 7-6, Derek Brough 5-9, Ken Shaw 4-12, Len Gill 0-15. Three did not weigh.

The club’s next outing on Sunday is their annual challenge against Bulwell Matchmen at Sherwood Farm Fishery.

AT the club’s Forge Mills base in Bestwood Village, Dave Rose was modestly in bloom with a weight of 4lb 9oz.

Other weights were: Ray Pickin 3-8, Brian Cross 3-6, Bob Finch 3-1, Darren Smith 2-13, Rob Daws 2-13, Dave Wagg 1-2. Three did not weigh.
