The final of the HUCKNALL EPA POOL LEAGUE’S Knockout Cup will be an all-Royal British Legion affair.

Both Legion A and Legion B, the top two teams in the league table, won their semi-finals -- against The Dragon and Spot-On (formerly Empire) respectively.

The unbeaten A team overcame a scare when trailing to wins by Shane Wood and Cliff Thompson. But Curly Johnstone, Michael Holmes-Parker, Adam Stevenson and Dave Wainwright engineered a 4-2 triumph.

Legion B were involved in a ding-dong duel with Spot. Each time they went in front, via Colin Draycott, Joe Etherington and Dave Stacey-King, the plucky visitors fought back, courtesy of Kerry Rodgers, James Betteridge and Shaun Betteridge. The tie was finally settled at 4-3 when Malc Grocock beat Conor Parkin on the seventh leg.

Meanwhile the semi-finals of the consolation competition, the Mellors Bicknell Shield, were also won by teams from the same venue.

Station Hotel B defeated Yew Tree 4-2 thanks to wins by PJ Singh, Dave Butler, Danny Butler and Paddy McShane, with Karl Jones and Dion Nangle replying for the home side. And in the final, they will meet Station Hotel A, who cruised to a 4-1 victory over Bestwood Village Social Club thanks to Paul Heath, Phil Buck, Martin Foster and Paul Hibbard.
