Victory in an inter-club local derby ensured that Royal British Legion A kept up the pressure on the leaders in the HUCKNALL EPA POOL LEAGUE.
Top dogs Spot-On Low-C recorded their 16th win from 20 matches by licking Liberal Club 6-2.
But not far up the road, Legion A were defeating Royal British Legion B 5-3 to stay within a point, although they have played one match more and have only two to complete.
Legion A hit back from 2-0 down thanks to pairs wins from Nidge Orton and Martin Bremner and Tim McShane and Ryan Orton and singles successes from Bremner, McShane and, on the last leg, Nidge Orton.
Low-C’s victors were Dean Britton, Ryan Norris, Scott Oxford and Geoff Taylor on singles, plus Britton (eight-ball clearance) and Norris and Simon Thompson and Danny Butler on pairs.
Two other league matches saw Empire A hammer Bestwood Village Social Club 7-1, with Joe Etherington successful on singles and pairs, and bottom-of-the-table Chequers secure only their second victory of the season in a basement battle against fellow strugglers Green Dragon. Neither side were able to field a last leg, with Chequers 4-3 up at the time after fighting back from 2-0 down.
The league’s Knockout Cup final between Low-C and Station Hotel (Hucknall) B takes place at the Liberal Club next Wednesday night when the Chequers pub also stages the B Cup final between Liberal and Dragon.
