Lobb one short of ton as Judd wreaks havoc for Hucknall

Opener Ian Lobb was left only one run short of a deserved, unbeaten century as newly-promoted HUCKNALL 3RD continued their healthy start to life in Division H of the Gunn And Moore South Notts League.

Man-of-the-match Lobb batted through the allotted 45 overs against Woodborough and was on 99 not out, after three sixes and eight fours, when the innings closed on 188-4. He put on 67 for the first wicket with Graham Caudwell (34, three fours) and 81 for the second with Ross Brown (27).

Lobb’s knock guided Hucknall to victory because their bowlers dismissed the visitors for 128. George Judd struck early and late for inspired figures of 6-29 from 12.3 overs, while Ian Dowell took 3-22 in ten overs.

No such joy in Division C for HUCKNALL 2ND, who fell by five runs to hand visitors Southwell their first win for nearly two years. Chasing 192-6 (Graeme Wright 3-24), they wasted a promising position of 71-1, despite 32 from Pete Hudson and 30s from Adam Brown and opener Jack Pates, whose daft run-out was pivotal.
