A week after landing the Knockout Cup, all-conquering Spot-On Low-C wrapped up the HUCKNALL EPA POOL LEAGUE title to complete a memorable double.

Low-C, who have lost only once all season, built an unassailable three-point lead at the top when beating Green Dragon 7-1 in their penultimate match.

The only blip came on the last leg when Tim Hudson was beaten. Otherwise, it was perfection from the home side as Ryan Norris, Dean Britton, Danny Butler, Simon Thompson, Scott Oxford and the pairings of Norris and Britton and Oxford and Hudson reeled off victories.

Another comfortable 7-1 success sealed the runners-up spot for Royal British Legion A, who disposed of Yew Tree.

Legion A never looked back from the moment Rich Devine and Tim McShane eased them into a 2-0 lead.

Ryan Orton and McShane did lose the opening pairs leg. But from then on, the home side cantered home in the hands of Nidge Orton, Ryan Orton, Glynn Devine, Nige Burton and the pairing of Burton and Nidge Orton.

Of the night’s other three fixtures, The Dragon swept into third place with a 7-1 crushing of Harrier, while Royal British Legion B and Liberal Club enjoyed 5-3 away victories.

Fifth-placed Legion B clipped the wings of Empire A, who duly slipped out of the top three. In an entertaining match, Wayne Cartledge twice edged Legion B in front early on with wins on singles and pairs (alongside Mark Hardstaff) -- only for Michael Holmes-Parker and Craig Johnstone to square things up each time for the home team.

But then Dean Dymock took control of the match, also registering a singles/pairs double for the visitors. And although Malc Grocock was beaten on the penultimate leg to leave the match in the balance, Hardstaff pocketed the points for Legion B.

Liberal turned round a 3-1 deficit at Station Hotel (Hucknall) B, who appeared to be crusing after wins by Paddy McShane, Alan Foster and the pairings of David Butler and Jim Campbell. The visitors wonn all four remaining legs.

With the season drawing to an end, all eyes are now on the semi-finals and finals of the singles and pairs competitions, to be held next month.

Through to the singles semis are Low-C duo Dean Britton and Geoff Taylor, plus Ryan Orton, of Legion A, and Joe Etherington, of Empire.

In the quarter-finals, Britton beat Tony Dobb (Empire) 4-0, while Taylor edged out Robbie Roylance (Empire) 3-2, Orton knocked out Malc Grocock (Legion B) and Etherington whitewashed Dave Ellis, of Harrier, 4-0.

Through to the last four of the pairs are Legion A pairings Tim McShane and Ryan Orton and Martin Bremner and Nidge Orton, plus Ryan Norris and Dean Britton, of Low-C, and Mark Bradley and Rich Hyslop, of Yew Tree.
