A weekend of ups and downs marked the latest Thundersport GB action for 18-year-old Hucknall riderAaron Bradley (pictured) at Donington Park.
Competing in the stocktwins class, Bradley suffered a nasty highside accident during qualifying at the start of the weekend, leaving him as far back as 26th on the grid.
But he managed to turn things round with solid starts that helped secure eighth place in race one and an even better fifth in race two.
Bradley’s performances pushed him up to tenth on the grid for Sunday’s races, and pure determination in some close battles resulted in a third-place finish in the third race, despite a red flag mid-race after a collision on track involving other riders.
For the fourth race, the heavens opened, forcing Bradley into a manic change of tyres as he headed out on to the track. He was still full of confidence but, unfortunately, he pushed a little too hard and lost front-end grip, resulting in a lowside crash that put him out of the contest.
It all left Bradley in fourth position in the overall championship standings, ahead of the next round at Snetterton.
He commented: “I am taking a lot from each race, which is seeing me progress through the ranks. I would like to thanks my sponsors, Brown Builder Ltd, Fleetcare Paint and CP Signs and, of course, my mum, dad and little sister for their support!”.
Thundersport GB, which was founded in 2007, is one of the UK’s fastest-growing race clubs and features a plethora of classes. Andy Gilnicz (26) is another Hucknall rider who competes.
