At an event designed purely to bring individual race times up to date for the start of the new season, Sherwood Colliery Swimming Club’s youngsters head off on their summer break after excelling at the Notts ASA Summer Gala hosted at Beechdale Leisure Centre.

Swimming a maximum of four races each, the young squad consistently took top three places in each of their events, setting new personal best times along the way to take into the new season’s Meets and Galas starting in September.

Head coach Ian Negus paid tribute to his squad’s hard work, saying that it was outstanding that they were still taking seconds off their individual race times at the end of a long, hard year and that it was testament to their hard work and long hours training in the pool both morning and night.

With Sherwood Colliery SC celebrating its 80th year in 2014, and specifically its very first session on 6th October 1934, there are a number of special events planned when the squad returns after the break.
