The renowned bowling greens of Skegness belong to prolific Hucknall players, Dave Adams, John Jordan and Janet Adams once again.

For the veteran trio achieved more success at the third of the four annual tournaments at the East Coast seaside resort, the English Bowls Association (EBA) Open.

Janet (62) was unlucky to be beaten in the final of the ladies’ singles for the second year running -- this time 21-15 after a keenly-contested match against Irene Wright, of Selston.

But husband Dave (69) maintained his astonishing record at Skegness by winning the men’s singles titles -- and then teaming up with Jordanto land the men’s pairs too, repeating their triumph of 2013.

On his way to singles glory, Adams even knocked out an England Under-25s player, 16-year-old Jordan Philpott.

After a terrific game, he won 21-19, having already safely negotiated three previous rounds.

In the semi-finals, he was never headed in beating Ian Clarke 21-11. And then in the final, Adams produced his best form of the week to storm home 21-16 against 19-year-old David Bristow, of Sleaford, who had won the Skegness September Open last year.

Jordan (69), of Caddaw Avenue, is also a former singles champion at the tournament. But when he links up with Adams, they are unbeatable!

They successfully defended their pairs title by defeating the favourites 22-13 in the semis before winning the final on an extra end. The scores were tied at 16-16 after the 18 regulation ends.

All three Hucknall players received trophies and cash, while Adams and Jordan also received coveted Jolly Fisherman figurines, unique to Skegness. The Adams couple, who were crowned pairs champions at the Skegness Over-55s tourney last month, now have no fewer than 18 Jolly Fishermen at their home on Kersall Gardens!
