Slick Linby up to second

IMPRESSIVE Linby Colliery Welfare Reserves were in great form with a resounding 4-1 win over Nuthall-based United FC in Division Two of the Notts Senior League (NSL).

The win moves them second in the table and they were up and running on 22 minutes when Ross Cheeseman knocked in a rebound after man-of-the-match Mitch Duffin’s shot had hit the post.

Second-half goals from Sam Scott, Paul Prewett and Jonny Bernard gave Linby a 4-0 lead before Kye Hall pulled one back for United.

n ON-the-up Rolls-Royce Leisure Reserves are now up to sixth in the table after they won a thrilling encounter with Wollaton Reserves 3-2 in Division One of the NSL.

After a cagey start, Rolls’ Jonathan Wass got on the end of a long throw from Joe Hunt to get the visitors in front.

Against the run of play Rich Wright pulled the home team level amid indecisive defensive play, and in the final minutes of the first-half Wright turned up again to put the home team in front after veteran keeper Neil Waters failed to catch a high corner kick.

Rolls bossed the whole of the second-half.

Reece Jackson, Danny Gamble and Aaron Potter all shot just wide before another long throw from Hunt landed for Gamble to get the score level again.

The home keeper kept Wollaton in it until the returning Jamie Thomas popped up in the goal area to finally put Rolls in front with 20 minutes to go.

Wollaton rallied in the last 10 minutes, pushing ever more numbers up front in an attempt to save the game with out any success.

Man-of-the-match for Rolls was Aaron Potter.
