A SPORTS store has dived into its coffers and fished out a timely handout to fund swimming lessons for youngsters at Hucknall Falcon Swimming Club.
JJB has celebrated the revamp of its store at the Riverside Retail Park in Nottingham by presenting Falcon with £250.
The cash will buy equipment for the club’s ‘Learn To Swim’ programme for five-year-olds and seven-year-olds. It will also pay for ‘swimmer of the month’ prizes in the coming year.
The link-up came about because Gemma Davies, who is a sister of Falcon member Lauren Straw, works for JJB.
Falcon’s head coach, Callum Lawson, said: “Our club is non-profit making and run by volunteers. Sponsorship and donations are always much appreciated and really make a difference.
“Falcon are delighted to be associated with an organisation like JJB, which is prepared to support sport in the community, and we hope this is the beginning of an ongoing relationship.”
Richard Barlow, manager of the Riverside JJB branch, added: “One of our key priorities is forging links with the local community. We believe in putting investment back into the area and we’re thrilled to be supporting a team who are determined to help the stars of the future.”
