SWIMMING: Flying skipper leads by example for Falcon

NEWLY-appointed senior girls’ captain Chloe Melvin led by example as HUCKNALL FALCON battled to third place in their latest gala.

For the skipper took two victories in personal-best (PB) times at the Hucknall Leisure Centre Pool in the open 50m butterfly and the open 50m breaststroke and collected a third PB in the open 200m individual medley.

Other wins recorded at the event were from: senior boys’ captain Calum Murray (open 200m individual medley (PB), 13 and 14-year-olds’ 50m butterfly and 50m freestyle), Ryan Patel (PB, nine and ten-year-olds’ 50m breaststroke), James Terry (13 and 14-year-olds’ 50m breaststroke (PB) and open 50m breaststroke), Sam Murden (13 and 14-year-olds’ 50m backstroke) the 13 and 14-year-olds’ 50m freestyle and 50m medley relay team of Murray, Terry, Murden and Kyle Riason.

Other PBs collected by the Falcon swimmers were from: Archie Pennington (11 and 12-year-olds’ 50m breaststroke and 50m freestyle, Emma Hutson (11 and 12-year-olds’ 50m breaststroke and 50m backstroke), Lauren Straw (13 and 14-year-olds’ 50m backstroke), Harvey Green (nine and ten-year-olds’ 50m backstroke), Kate Rooksby (13 and 14-year-olds’ 50m butterfly), Ellie Barker (nine and ten-year-olds’ 50m breaststroke) and Sophie Melvin (11 and 12-yearolds’ 50m freestyle).

RESULT — Sutton 187 points, Newark 174, FALCON 149, Portland 116, HUCKNALL AND LINBY DOLPHINS 104.
