Excitement is mounting for Hucknall tennis starlet Freya Christie ahead of her debut at the Australian Open.
Freya (16) has been selected as one of two young British girls to compete in the Girls’ Juniors’ championship at scorching-hot Melbourne. And she is due to play her opening-round match either this weekend or early next week.
Her selection follows a spectacular year in 2013 when she made her debut at Wimbledon, losing only to the number one seed, and earned a place in the top 100 world rankings for under-18s.
Freya, of Beardall Street, also reached the final of the singles and the doubles in a big international tournament in Korea.
