TEENAGE Hucknall gymnast Katy Bramley tested her talent against none other than former world champion Beth Tweddle at the British Team Championships.
The 13-year-old, who has ambitions of competing at the Olympic Games one day, was a member of the Notts A team at the Guildford Spectrum in Surrey.
Tweddle and her Liverpool team outshone the rest to claim a seventh national title. But Katy helped her squad to a creditable sixth position overall, comfortably meeting their coaches’ hopes of a top-ten finish.
The event sees teams of five competing on all apparatus, with the top four scores on each dictating the overall positions.
Because of a minor foot-injury, Katy was unable to tackle the beam. But she made amends by finishing seventh on the bars. She ranked 16th on vault and 26th on floor.
The event was the latest in a whirlwind year so far for Katy. For she has already finished sixth in the junior section of the English Championships and won a spot on the national junior squad.
