A shock defeat for leaders Shamrock opened up the title race again in the HUCKNALL WINTER DOMINOES LEAGUE.

Summer league champions Shamrock had surged to the top after a sparkling run of seven wins on the trot. But a 4-1 reverse at home to struggling Sherwood Ranger halted them in their tracks, and with second-placed George Street losing as well, just two points now cover the top five teams, with five matches to play.

George Street lost 3-2 at Empire, who are third, level on points with Central Club, who won 4-1 at Bestwood Village Social Club, and Conny, who also triumphed 4-1 away, at Bentinck Club.

The week’s remaining fixture resulted in only the second success of the season for bottom-of-the-table Station PH, who beat Royal British Legion 3-2
