An all-day music event is being organised by a man from Bestwood Village as part of a national fundraising drive for the Teenage Cancer Trust.
March of the Mods is an idea that has grown in popularity in recent years with 17 events taking place up and down the country during March 2013.
This year Hucknall will be hosting one of the events at the Rolls Royce Leisure Centre organised by Mick Keetley.
“Each event has its own organiser who plans, promotes and hosts their own event,” explains Mick. “And it is up to the organiser what form it takes.”
The Hucknall event will take place on 16th March from noon to midnight at the Watnall Road club.
“I have 11 bands lined up to play during the day including Nottingham band, The Score and The Universal from Liverpool to name just two,” said Mick. “But there are plenty of others who are all giving their time for free and Rolls Royce have also donated the use of the room.”
This year will see 31 towns involved in the event from Brighton to Glasgow with events being staged throughout the month.
As well as the live bands, there will be DJs providing music inbetween the sets and an MC keeping the night flowing.
Tickets for the event are priced at £7.50 in advance or £10 on the door with all profits going to the Teenage Cancer Trust who campaign for better treatment and support for young people with cancer.
“It promises to be a great day for music lovers, so please come along and offer your support as not only will it be a day with a difference but it will also be boosting funds for a worthwhile charity too,” added Mick.
Mick is also appealing to anyone who can help supply a PA system for the event or businesses to help towards the cost of hiring one for the day.
