LOCAL piano virtuoso John Ogdon, who achieved worldwide recognition for his keyboard skills, is to be remembered tonight (Wednesday) on BBC Radio 3 at 7.30pm with a 25th anniversary memorial concert live from Champs Hill in Sussex.

The recital will be given by Peter Donohoe whose programme reflects works championed by Ogdon, who died 25 years ago, including Scriabin, Ravel, Shostakovich and Liszt.

During the interval at 8.25pm there will be recordings of the Mansfield Woodhouse-born pianist, including Liszt’s Variations symphoniques, with the Philharmonia Orchestra, conducted by Sir John Barbirolli.
