Bowie convention is at The Vic Inn

David Bowie fans will be heading for The Victoria Inn in Derby this weekend.

The venue, based at Midland Place, is hosting a two-day David Bowie Convention, which organisers have described as “a Bowietastic gathering of the beautiful people!”

A celebration of the life and music of David Bowie, the convention is on Friday and Saturday (May 8-9) and features a selection of brilliant live music, from tribute bands to Steampunk and many other genres doing Bowie their way.

Among those taking part are Aladdinsane, fronted by Paul Henderson, who first caught national attention on ITV’s Stars In Their Eyes during the 90s. This notoriety saw him widely acknowledged as Europe’s most credible Bowie look and sound-a-like and began the evolution of Aladdinsane, who entertain the audience with a string of hit singles and often include classic Bowie album tracks from the golden years of a living legend.

Also appearing will be Simon York, Luxury Stranger’s frontman, in an acoustic set, plus you can enjoy the likes of The Featherz, Birthrite, Rebel Rebel and more. There will also be Bowie-flavoured DJ sets. Weekend tickets are available for £30. See www.thevictoriainnderby.co.uk for more.
