Edwardian weekend at Crich Tramway Village

Visitors on the weekend of 12th and 13th July can experience first-hand the time when the suffragette movement was in full swing, First World War soldiers patrolled the streets and horse drawn trams were a regular spectacle.

The Edwardian Weekend offers visitors the opportunity to ride on a horse-drawn tram and there is an interactive learning session, which brings the Edwardian tramway to life with costumes and archive photographs.

The Time Tarts will be putting on various period displays such as a suffragists meeting, a dramatised presentation on the sinking of the Titanic and the siege of Sidney Street.

A demonstration and talk about uniform and equipment for soldiers in the run up to WW1 will be also be held.

The weekend will also feature talks about ladies’ fashions of the time, Derby at war and Derbyshire yeomanry at war.

There will be a display of Edwardian phonographs and gramophones playing period songs and talks will be given on the history of recorded sound.

Another highlight of the event will be an exhibition featuring artefacts from RMS Titanic and Olympic.

This year visitors are also offered a chance to re-enact the eve of sailing Titanic dinner.

The meal will take place in the evening of Saturday 12th July and will include a tram ride and three-course meal.

Guests should wear traditional Edwardian dress for an authentic atmosphere.

Pre-booking is essential and closes on 4th July.

Crich Tramway Village is open daily until 2nd November.
