Female stars at folk festival

Sally Barker, one of the stars of BBC1’s The Voice, will be a major attraction at this year’s Gate To Southwell Folk Festival, which features one of the strongest line-ups of female roots music talent to gather in the UK this summer.

Singer/songwriter Sally will perform with the all-women act, The Poozies, who take to the stage on the Saturday night.

The festival runs from 5th to 8th June and its bill also includes BBC Folk Award winners Bella Hardy and her band The Midnight Watch, and The Mischa Macpherson Trio.

There will also be performances from the acclaimed Irish sisters The Henry Girls, Lisa Butler of Caladh Nua, Polly Perry of The Billet Doux and 16-year-old GraceSarah, from Cambridge.

The event also promises a beer and cider festival, music workshops, a children’s festival and a silent folk disco.
