Read all about it at Cromford Mills festival

Cromford Mills is hosting its first Cromford Mills Book Festival on June 20-21, a weekend full of treats for book lovers.

There will also be a story book trail for children and the chance to browse second hand book stalls where you can find books on a wide range of subjects.

On Saturday, from 2pm-3pm (£7.50 per person) Chris Thompson, a BAFTA-nominated scriptwriter contributing to television and radio for 30 years, and whose credits include Heartbeat, and The Archers, talks about his career and writing for the soaps.

On the same day, from 7pm (£7.50 per person) Stephen Bailey, co-author of Heartlands, D. H. Lawrence’s Midlands Roots, explores the writer’s connections with the county and illustrates the use he made of these in his work. D. H. Lawrence lived briefly at Middleton-by-Wirksworth and used various Derbyshire locations.

On Sunday, from 2pm-3pm (£7.50 per person) bestselling author Wendy Holden talks about her writing career and latest book Wild and Free – a comedy set at a summer festival. Wendy is the author of ten consecutive Sunday Times top ten bestselling novels.

All weekend from 10am-4pm, there will be a variety of secondhand book stalls with a wide range of books for sale at the Gothic Warehouse, Cromford Mills (free entry). There will also be a children’s story book trail (£1 per entry). Purchase an entry form from the shop at Cromford Mills, follow the story book trail and find all the stories – and you could win a small prize.

There are limited places available for the talks so advanced booking is recommended on 01629 825995.
