Six of the best for tribute fans at venue

Music fans are in for a bumper week of tribute acts at The Flowerpot venue in Derby, starting on Boxing Day (Friday), when the visitors are Are You Experienced?

The band is an acclaimed outfit that pays musical homage to the illustrious, powerful back catalogue of The Jimi Hendrix Experience, the ground-breaking combo fronted by one of the greatest guitar players of all time.

Expect highly acccurate renditions of some of the best of Jimi Hendrix’s music.

Guitarist John Campbell bears more than just a passing resemblance to Jimi Hendrix and has drawn on his many years of playing in different bands and various styles to perfect his Hendrix persona.

Then, on Saturday, December 27, Too Rex are the visitors to the King Street venue.

Popular with gig-goers right across the country and beyond, Too Rex will be delivering a hit-packed set of songs made famous by Marc Bolan and T.Rex during their phenomenal run of chart success between 1970-73.

There’s more tribute fun in store with a visit from The Small Fakers on Sunday, December 28.

This is a highly talented band that performs some of the best songs made famous by the legendary 60s outfit The Small Faces, that was fronted by the effervescent Steve Marriott.

Then, on Monday, December 29, The Flowerpot plays host to some old favourites in the shape of The Rollin Stoned.

Always popular at the venue, they will be strutting their stuff again with their tribute to the legendary Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and co.

Johnny Cash fans can enjoy the musical performance of tribute band Keep It Cash on Tuesday, December 30, before the year is rounded off on Wednesday, December 31, by a New Year’s Eve session, in the bar until 1am.

A number of top local musicians have been lined up to perform at this event.

Doors open at 8pm for all gigs.

Admission is £10 for Are You Experienced, £10 for Too Rex, £10 for The Small Fakers, £12 for The Rollin Stoned, £10 for Keep It Cash, while the New Year’s Eve Session is free.
