Stars to shine at forest gigs

Three top acts will be in action at Sherwood Pines Forest during the last weekend in June as part of the Forestry Commission’s Forest Live dates.

Paloma Faith, Tom Odell and The Vamps will be performing in seven spectacular woodland venues, including Sherwood Pines Forest, based at Edwinstowe near Mansfield.

Tom Odell will be performing there on Friday, June 26, with special guest Rae Morris. The Vamps are the star turn on Saturday, June 27, before Paloma Faith appears on Sunday, June 28, for what is now a sold-out gig.

Released in June 2013, Tom Odell’s debut album Long Way Down shot straight to number one. He heard the news whilst performing on the John Peel Stage at Glastonbury that year.

Singles from the album including Can’t Pretend, Hold Me and the gargantuan Another Love illustrate a song-writing maturity beyond his years. This has resulted in his achieving the ultimate industry accolade of Songwriter of the Year at the 2014 Ivor Novello Awards as well as previously winning the BRITs Critics’ Choice Award for 2013.

The Vamps formed when the band members found one another via their respective YouTube channels.

Subsequently they amassed a serious online following through social media with the upload of a series of punkish, acoustic-driven covers of chart-conquering pop hits.

They’ve now had 230 million total YouTube and Vevo views as well as sold out arena tours.

Paloma Faith’s third album A Perfect Contradiction was one of the huge success stories of 2014 and her fastest selling album to date, certified platinum and scoring hit singles with Only Love Can Hurt Like This and Can’t Rely On You. As a side project she notched up her first number one collaborating with British drum and bass duo Sigma on the single Changing.

Commenting on the forest shows, Paloma Faith said: “I am so excited to do the forest tour. I did it before and had such a wonderful time. See you all in the summer.”
