Arcade Players in hectic farce

The Arcade Players will be treading the boards again at Long Eaton’s Duchess Theatre from February 11-14, with their latest production.

In Two Into One, eminent MP Richard Willey is staying at the Westminster Hotel with his wife, Pamela.

Dispatching her to a matinée of Evita, he makes his PPS, George, arrange a suite in the same hotel so that Richard can finally seduce Jennifer Bristow, one of the PM’s secretaries.

Unfortunately, in his panic, George bungles the arrangements and Richard finds his illicit love-nest is the suite next door to his and Pamela’s. From then on, the hapless George frenetically piles one outrageous deceit upon another, accidently finding himself seducing Pamela, who has returned unexpectedly, until staff and guests alike are reeling in confusion.

This brief synopsis hardly does credit to this hectic paced comedy of high jinks in high office. The script is witty and fast, as befits a Ray Cooney play.

The Arcade Players are performing this nightly from 7.30pm on February 11-14. Tickets are available to buy online via TicketSource, at the group’s Saturday coffee mornings or by calling 07503 329277.
