David Hasselhoff to star in Nottingham panto

Former Baywatch star and international celebrity David Hasselhoff is the star bill in this year’s pantomime at Nottingham’s Theatre Royal.

The Hoff will be playing panto’s ultimate baddy, Captain Hook, in Peter Pan this Christmas, and said he was thrilled to be appearing in Nottingham: “I love performing in pantomime. It’s a fabulous British tradition and a great excuse to get the whole family together and enjoy a wonderful and entertaining time at the theatre.

“I can’t wait to spend Christmas with the people of Nottingham but watch out - Hoff the Hook is coming to get you. You’re gonna love me....oh yes, you are!”

Joining David in on stage, in the title role of Peter Pan, is children’s television star Barney Harwood.

Barney started his career at the age of 17 in the boy band Goal and made the move into presenting two years later on the popular music show Planet Pop. He then joined CBBC as a presenter on Smile and, in 2007, won the Children’s BAFTA for Best TV Presenter. He has since presented a string of successful show.

Well-loved television actress Su Pollard will be adding a touch of sparkle to the panto in the role of the Magical Mermaid.

Best known for playing the loveable Peggy in the 80s sitcom Hi-de-Hi!, Su has worked as an actress, singer, writer and comedienne in a career spanning 40 years.

Other notable career highlights have seen her appear in You Rang, M’lord?, Oh, Doctor Beeching! and stage productions of Annie, Little Shop of Horrors and Sweet Charity.

The Theatre Royal Nottingham runs from Saturday 7th December 2013 to Sunday 12th January 2014.
