A look ahead to what’s on at Nottingham’s Theatre Royal and Concert Hall

Summer may have only just arrived but the theatre world is already looking forward to the autumn season ahead.

At Nottingham’s Theatre Royal and Royal Concert Hall the packed programme of shows includes comedy, musicals, dance and drama featuring a host of big-name stars.

For comedy fans, the season will include performances from the likes of Russell Brand, Bill Bailey, Milton Jones, Jason Manford, Tracy Morgan, Sean Lock, Greg Davies and Ed Byrne, who will be at the Royal Concert Hall as part of their nationwide tours.

The venue will also welcome stars from the world of music such as Bryan Ferry, Jamie Cullum, Motörhead, The Seekers, M People, Al Stewart, Deacon Blue, the Guy Barker Orchestra, Alison Moyet, Paul Carrack, Chris Barber and Acker Bilk.

As always, there will be an opportunity to see some of the most popular West End musicals and highlights include The Rocky Horror Show, Our House (inspired by the music of Madness), the return of the ever-popular Dreamboats and Petticoats and Nottingham Operatic Society’s production of Oklahoma!

There will also be a special 20th anniversary concert performance of RENT at the Royal Concert Hall starring Atomic Kitten and West End leading lady Natasha Hamilton.

Meanwhile, there are plenty of shows to keep younger audiences entertained including Michael Morpurgo’s The Butterfly Lion, starring Gwen Taylor, a staging of The Gruffalo’s Child and Northern Ballet’s first ever ballet for children, The Ugly Duckling, as well as regular Beanbag Music Club events throughout the season.
