Pioneering show at Playhouse

A contemporary morality tale of uprising that remains as topical today as it was 85 years ago, it comes to Nottingham Playhouse from 21st February to 8th March.

It is an exploration of society’s reaction to surviving economic hard times, allowing the social under-dogs to have their say.

This is the first fully integrated production of Threepenny Opera ever performed, and uses live audio description, a creative combination of British Sign Language interpretation and captioning and an integrated cast of disabled and non-disabled performers.

Jenny Sealey, artistic director of Graeae, said: “The Threepenny Opera is a glorious theatrical challenge where our truly unique motley crew create their own world to tell the story from their perspective with punch, panache and passion.”

With live music played onstage by the actors themselves, delivering a score that includes such well-known songs as Mack the Knife and Pirate Jenny, expect a riotous musical comedy that audiences will be begging to see.
