Science favourite is coming to Arena

Science fans are in for a real treat with the news that Derby LIVE is to welcome Professor Brian Cox to Derby Arena for an appearance there next year.

He will be appearing there on Tuesday, May 9, 2017, as part of an extension to his hotly anticipated tour.

The show will take audiences on a dazzling journey through space and time, delving into ‘high science’ and freewheeling on the edges of the known cosmos.

Whether an avid science reader or a total novice, Professor Brian Cox Live will test the limits of our knowledge and make highly complex ideas accessible to all.

Always captivating, continually surprising and forever pushing the boundaries, Professor Brian Cox takes science to a new dimension in this new stage show.

This is the show to get up close and personal with the man himself with an interview hosted by Robin Ince, his co-presenter from Radio Four’s The Infinite Monkey Cage.

Brian Cox is one of the world’s foremost communicator of all things scientific. His innate ability to make highly complex matters enormously entertaining and easy to contemplate has made his science television shows ground breaking in their audience reach and accessibility.

Brian Cox is a British particle physicist, a Royal Society University Research fellow. He works on the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN, Switzerland and is a rofessor at the University of Manchester.

He is best known to the public as the presenter of a number of science programs for the BBC, boosting the popularity of subjects such as astronomy and physics.

Tickets are priced £32 and £42. These can be purchased through the Derby LIVE box office on 01332 255800 or online at derbylive.co.uk and also in person from the box office, Assembly Rooms, Market Place, Derby, DE1 3AH.

n Comedian, actor and host of BBC Radio Four’s The News Quiz, Miles Jupp will be performing his latest show - Songs Of Freedom - at Derby Theatre on Saturday, September 17, from 7.30pm.

Astronauts, regrets, the sexes, social media, hipsters, medicine, manners, identity, lost stuff, and other stuff.

Jupp will be trying to make sense of at least some of the above topics as the star of Rev and Mock The Week hits the road in a freshly-ironed shirt and a robust pair of trousers in his latest stand-up show.

Tickets are available from the box office on 01332 593939.

n Comedy fans might also like Felicity Ward: 50 Per Cent More Likely To Die, which can be seen in Derby Theatre’s Studio on October 23.

Fresh from her last show being the third best reviewed at last year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe (out of 3,000), Felicity is back with her latest show, which again looks at the topic of mental illness.

The performance starts at 8pm. Call 01332 593939.
