Bakewell Oxfam Supporters Group invites you to a Jazz Breakfast with the music of The Steve Salfield Quartet, to take place on Sunday, April 19, from 10.30am-12.30pm.

What better way to spend a Sunday morning at Bakewell’s Medway Centre than eating a sumptuous continental breakfast to the cool sounds of mellow jazz?

Bring your family and friends, relax, chat or read the papers, which will the organisers will provide.

The talented Steve Salfield Quartet is a band of local professional jazz musicians. Steve (pictured) on tenor and soprano saxes, has played not only in contemporary jazz groups, blues and rock’n’roll bands, but also in classical orchestras. His music melds influences from all of these experiences, ranging from rich and mellow to full and raunchy.

Wendy Kirkland on keyboard is a well-known pianist, organist and vocalist who leads her own band, The Organik Trio. Pat Sprakes is brilliant on double bass and guitar and Clive Loveday a talented and inventive drummer.

You will hear old standards, original compositions as well as some unusual tunes from a variety of sources. 

A continental style breakfast with tea, coffee, croissants, cheeses, cold meats, fruit platters and much more, are included.

Previous Jazz Breakfasts with this band, sold out very quickly so please buy your tickets early. All proceeds will go to Oxfam.

n He Had Hairy Hands is the name of a show to be performed in the Studio at Derby Theatre on Friday, April 24.

The year is 1974 and the sleepy town of Hemlock-under-Lye finds itself under attack from werewolves. Kill The Beast theatre company will perform the show from 2pm and 8pm. This play combines beautiful visuals witth original music. Call 01332 593939 for ticket details.
