For the first time ever, in its 53 years history, visitors to Coronation Street The Tour can experience the magic of a Weatherfield Christmas.

The street with its famous houses, shops and, of course, The Rovers Return, has been trimmed up with festive lights, decorations and snow covered roof tops to guarantee a white Christmas.

You will even be able to smell Christmas, the scent of berries, cinnamon, chocolate orange and pine trees pumped through the set.

This is not just the first but possibly the last chance to experience Christmas on Coronation Street. The Tour is due to close next year.

It is the actual street which was used for all the TV filming until a year ago - when a new set was built at MediaCityUK. As filming for Christmas is now complete , all the decorations have been taken straight from there, meaning visitors will get to experience a true Weatherfield Christmas.

Highlights of the tour include the Street itself, with time to explore where famous scenes were filmed and to get photos outside the iconic Rovers Return, Roy’s Rolls or the Kabin.

Interior room sets, include the Platt’s, the Duckworth’s and Underworld, props, costumes, an awards showcase and star dressing rooms are all part of the behind the scenes tour.

There’s even a once in a lifetime opportunity to get a picture taken behind the bar in the Rovers.

Other festive treats and surprises include a trip through past Corrie Christmases with a special video montage, carols and late night twilight tours on Fridays and Saturdays until 7pm.

Throughout the twelve days leading up to the big day itself, December 13 to 24, choirs, brass bands and singing groups will be serenading visitors with Christmas carols on the cobbles.

The attraction is actually in Atherton Street - the centre of Manchester - so perfect for a visit during Christmas shopping in the city.

Andy Begg, General Manager of the Tour said: “Over the years there have been some fabulous Christmas story lines on the street featuring many familiar faces. There’s never more drama than at Christmas and there is nowhere more magical if you’re a Coronation Street fan! Come and spend Christmas in Weatherfield it’s always a magical place to visit!”

Juliana Delaney, CHief Executive of Continuum Leading Attractions, which operates the Tour, said: “Since we opened the tour in April 2014, the feedback we have received has been phenomenal. I’m so pleased those who have yet to experience the tour will now get the chance to, and those who have can see it in a whole new ‘white’. It continues to be a privilege to work with ITV to allow visitors to step onto the cobbles and into this nationally loved brand.

“As the snow falls on the nation’s street, it’s difficult to imagine a more delightful place to be in the run up to Christmas, especially as Manchester comes to life with vibrant markets and festive celebrations - I hope you enjoy it too.”
