Business breakfasts launch at enterprise zone site

D2N2 – the Local Enterprise Partnership for Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire – will be launching its series of Business Breakfasts on the Nottingham Enterprise Zone.

Newly-opened MediCity, the health, beauty and wellness innovation hub will host the first event on Wednesday, February 5, 2014, from 7.30am to 10am.

MediCity is a collaboration between Boots, the UK’s leading pharmacy-led health and beauty retailer and BioCity, the UK’s leading life sciences incubation company, and is based on the Boots site in Beeston.

Director of MediCity, David Browning, will open proceedings before D2N2 engages with local businesses, stakeholders and other partners about its future plans to help create 55,000 new jobs in the area by 2023.

David Browning comments: “As an integral partner in the plans for the Enterprise Zone, MediCity will work with the D2N2 LEP to attract ambitious entrepreneurs to Nottingham and to this site in particular.”

D2N2 LEP Chief Executive David Ralph said: “We are delighted to be staging our first breakfast event at MediCity in the Nottingham Enterprise Zone, as the EZ is a core component in the economic strategy for D2N2.

“The Enterprise Zone itself aims to bring in thousands of new jobs to the area and this event shows our close working relationship with significant large companies across the patch, in this case MediCity, BioCity and Alliance Boots.

“MediCity will also be highlighting its exciting plans for future growth of the business and importance of incubation for start-ups.

“I would encourage businesses to attend as we consult on our Strategic Economic Plan, which has to go to Government by the end of March before a Growth Deal is completed. Once this happens, we will see national and European funds confirmed, resulting in a step change from planning to delivery.

“We will enjoy the opportunity to engage and network with businesses. It is also a chance for them to find out about the funding opportunities surrounding skills and business growth that are already at their disposal from D2N2, the Local Enterprise Partnership.”

The free breakfasts – which are free to attend – will run from 7.30am to 10.00am and take place at the following venues:
