Young writers’ efforts will be acknowledged

An awards ceremony for the winners of Mansfield Learning Partnership and Mansfield 2020’s short story competition will be held on 2nd April.

To celebrate all the young people taking part Mansfield learning Partnership has commissioned local film company A Star Media to create a film featuring extracts of each story read by Radio 1Extra host Jay Harrison.

Students from Mansfield schools and Vision West Nottinghamshire College have created and submitted a short fiction based story or poem of 500 words or less for the event at Mansfield Library from 6pm onwards.

Berni Dickinson, Director of MLP said: “It is great to showcase to local employers the skills our young people have and to give young people the creative opportunity and to be acknowledged for their skills.”

Each winner will receive £500 for their school to spend on creative writing resources.

All runner-ups receive a certificate and goody bag provided by Mansfield BID, including book vouchers and writing materials.

Kath Jephson, Mansfield 2020 board member, said: “It is great to see young people getting involved.”
