This is how many people in Nottinghamshire have had the Covid vaccine so far

More than 48,000 people in Nottinghamshire have received the potentially life-saving coronavirus vaccine, official figures show.

The data, released by NHS England, covers the period from 8 December – when the first patient in England received the jab – to 17 January, which means the actual number of people who have received their first shot of protection against Covid-19 in the county will be higher.

In total, 48,358, people had received at least one vaccine dose by 17 January. Of this number, 978 people have now been vaccinated twice.

The data also shows 21,510 recipients were aged 80 or over – 25 of whom have now received their second jab.

The highest number of doses for this period – 271,536 – were given in Cumbria and the North East.

Minister for Covid vaccine deployment Nadhim Zahawi said today that the UK remains on track to meet its first vaccination target.
