Nottinghamshire Police delivered donuts across Bulwell to bring a bit of cheer during the coronavirus pandemic

Nottinghamshire Police received a large donation of doughnuts from Greggs and Nottingham City Council which they decided to hand out to the community.

The force’s Citizens In Policing department shared some of the delicious treats with the help of Keiren Thompson, director of Helping Kids Achieve youth group.

The force and youth group continue to work together to support and engage with young people and the community during the coronavirus crisis.

Bulwell’s Mr Thompson, who is currently the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Unsung Hero Award winner for his youth work, said: “We are very thankful for the donation and it’s great that we can deliver treats to local kids and families in the area during these difficult times.”

Outreach worker Romel Davis added: “It is so important that we continue to keep in contact with our young people and communities, support them and remain visible during this pandemic.

“We just have to be creative and do things differently as we move through this crisis.”

The police also delivered doughnuts to the Lyrico Steede cadet base; Michaela Spencer, the founder of Truth Mental Health, who distributed them to vulnerable and elderly people and some children in the Broxtowe area; and carer Louise Kelsey Simpson from Direct Health Group Careers who took them to the residential home she works in.
