Mansfield and Ashfield lead the way in NHS reforms

Under new government proposals in the Health and Social Care Bill, Primary Care Trusts will be replaced by local groups of GPs and other health professionals. These groups will be known as a Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs).

The CCG responsible for planning and buying health care services for Mansfield and Ashfield, which was initially set up as Highpoint Health, has now changed its name to Mansfield and Ashfield NHS Clinical Commissioning Group.

The main aim of the new CCG is to work with GPs, other healthcare professionals, stakeholders and the public to make a real, positive and measurable difference to health and social care in Mansfield and Ashfield.

Dr. Raian Sheik, Clinical Lead of Mansfield and Ashfield NHS CCG said: “The proposals for changes to the way the NHS works can seem complicated. As Mansfield and Ashfield NHS CCG we are determined to make these changes as easy as possible for our service users and residents to understand. The new name clearly shows that we remain part of the NHS structures, which is important to our patients, and reflects the geographic area we cover.

“We are committed to excellent partnership working. With other health bodies, public sector organisations, charities and community and voluntary services we will develop better services for our patients.”
